Our lab is starting with the spiking principle.

This can be considered a technique in the "Manriquean" spirit: slow fall and fast rise.

Essentially, it revolves around a fixed initial bet, for example, 1 base unit per spin. Following a win, higher-paying bets are concentrated, utilizing the winnings to create an upward spike in the bankroll balance (hence the name).

The "art of spiking" centers on appropriately sizing the concentrated bets and payouts (right after the hit) in relation to the current goal. Always "watching the bankroll."
