### 2. Failure According to the Original Book

If the player loses the entire capital before reaching the profit goal, that attack is considered a failure.

The book does not continue from the reduced bankroll.

Instead, the player starts a fresh attack using the next 100-franc capital.

Attack #1 = Lost

Start Attack #2 with a fresh $100.

The author assumes that eventually one successful snowball run will more than compensate for previous failed attacks.

### 3. French_cunning_Fox's Concern

French_cunning_Fox raised an interesting question.

Suppose we do not follow the book exactly.

Suppose we start with:

* $100 capital
* Lose one session

Now bankroll = $80.

What should happen next?

### Option A - Continue From $80

Simply continue.

* $80 ÷ 20 = $4 per bet

Play the Snowball system using the reduced bankroll.

This follows the logic of bankroll management but is not how the original book handled failures.

### Option B - Recover Back To $100 First

Instead of snowballing from $80, use the smaller bet size:

* $80 ÷ 20 = $4

Play until a profit of $20 is achieved.

Bankroll returns to:

* $80 + $20 = $100

Then restart the Snowball progression from the beginning.

This preserves the original structure of the progression.

### Option C - Use Another Capital

Follow the original idea more closely.

If the first attack falls from $100 to $80 and is considered failed, take another $20 from a fresh 100-dollar capital and restore the attack bankroll back to $100.

The player is effectively treating the bankroll as ten separate attacks rather than one continuously shrinking bankroll.

### Another Concern

French_cunning_Fox also pointed out that gain progressions can create a situation where a player builds a large profit but later loses it all.

His example was a player reaching +600 units and eventually giving everything back.
